Safety for the Upcoming Holiday

If you plan on bringing treats for the upcoming holiday, please remember the following . . .
1. Kapolei Elementary is a PEANUT FREE school.
2. We have students who are highly allergic to peanuts and products with peanuts.
3. DO NOT send peanut products to school (treats/candies with peanut butter or nuts).
4. Other options for treats: pencils, erasers, stickers, bookmarkers, or donate a book in your child's name.

National Child Passenger Safety Week September 16-22

The Driver Education Program (DEP) and Honolulu Police Department (HPD), in cooperation with police departments across the state, are partnering with the State Department of Transportation to promote the 2012 National Child Passenger Safety Week, which has been designated as September 16-22, 2012. Nationally, motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for children aged 3 to 6 and 8 to 14 years of age. A “Birth to Boosters” brochure is enclosed for more information.

During National Child Passenger Safety Week, police officers will be randomly stationed at public elementary schools throughout the state during drop-off and pick-up times to ensure that children are properly restrained. They will be prepared to answer any questions regarding Hawaii’s child restraint laws and cite violations if necessary.
